As you seem to be the person doing 99.99% of the posting on this forum . . . I would like to offer you a BIG THANK YOU Your efforts don't go unnoticed !- your knowledge and abilities with Arduino kit far outstrips mine ! A lot of the Arduino info goes over my head at the present, but I fully intend to keep 'dipping into' all the info you have posted.
I am currently working on a fairly simple home security/safety system -Nanos , 16x2 I2C LCD screens, NRF24L01 Wireless communication modules, then door switches, light sensors, temperature sensors on mains powered modules in the Greenhouse, Garage, House. Battery/solar powered ones monitoring driveway gates, and house approaches, all communicating with a central unit so that visitors, lights left on, doors left open, temperatures etc. can all be monitored from the central Master unit in my computer cubby hole.
Trouble is . . . I have loads of other projects fighting for my time - village magazine work, photography, gardening, model boats and cars etc. etc. and I'm retired, so I have more free time than most!

I'll second that as well. Trouble is Arduino for many of us is a secondary to what we really think of as a hobby, so it takes a back seat. I like you, pick up bits and pieces of knowledge as and when I need it and hopefully can make sense of what I get.
To that end we look to others like Jonathon who seems to be totally immersed in the subject. So many thanks from me as well.

Aha - smoke and mirrors!
thanks for the kind words...
I wish I understood as much as you think I do...
I think it's more along the lines of I am good at Googling and most of the time absorbing what I find quickly along with a determination to never be beaten by technology
I wish I had more time than I do to explore and develop but my play time is actually quite limited
i think there is good collaboration on this site even though we are a small band I have certainly learnt stuff from here
i made a posting on the main Arduino forum a few days back and got roasted by one of the senior members pointing out the multiple errors of my post -I smiled, moved on and won't be returning any time soon for seconds
There have benn some great projects published on here, Dave (theoldfart)'s Shannon system is pretty complex and function rich, Tim's (dimtim) variable speed smoker, barriew's fire platform and eventually my TARGET - Turret tracking and gun fire system assuming I can make it all work and cooking slowly in the background is Brian's complex project
I wish we could get more modellers into the benefits and development "fun" C-3PO

I am in the wings, waiting for winter to shift to other hobbies. Retirement brings sometimes too many choices on what to do with your time. And it is all interesting stuff so hard to focus.
